Perennial Geraniums (or “hardy“ Geraniums)
Perennial Geraniums are well worth discovering because, if you choose the right variety you`ll have plants which are very pretty in foliage & flower, are free-flowering over long periods and provide attractive protection against weeds!
Since we`ve planted our trial & perennial gardens full of Geraniums, it`s hard to imagine having lived without them. We`ve used their decorative foliage & flowers to preclude weeds, fill in between taller plants & tie whole `garden pictures` together. Some are simply used as pretty ground covers which are allowed to spill out onto the pathways & pavement. We find Geraniums are also the perfect companions for Spring bulbs. The Spring bulbs will happily push their way up through the Geraniums which provide softly undulating waves of foliage which look great whilst shading out weeds at the same time! Then, once the bulbs have finished, the Geraniums fill in the gap left and disguise the dying bulb foliage.
Geraniums are a must: they`re self-sufficient, drought tolerant & flower for many, many months too.
Look in our Spring `99 catalogue for our latest selection of Geraniums (page 11). All are repeat flowering for your longer enjoyment!
