Aster 'The Monch' and 'The Prince'
Family: Asteraceae
Botanical name: Aster lateriflorus 'The Prince' and A.frikartii 'The Monch'
Plant type: The Monch is deciduous and The Prince is semi-evergreen.
Plant size: Prince: 50x50cm (or a little taller). The Monch is 60x40cm wide.
Depth & spacing: Plant to the same level in the pot and 50-60cm apart.
Watering: For best results, keep well watered whilst actively growing.
Frost tolerances: Fully hardy.
Flowering time: Mid Summer to Autumn - these are great for adding late colour to the garden.
Preferred soil: Well drained.
Aspect: Full sun is ideal but they will tolerate a very light shade.
Ideal climates: Cool to temperate.
Pruning: Trim back each Winter.
Fertilising: Feed annually in Spring with a general purpose fertiliser.
Uses & comments: These plants are invaluable for adding brilliant colour to the garden late in the season.
