Astilbe

Family:Saxifragaceae
Plant type: Herbaceous perennial.
Planting time: Winter
Size:Foliage:40cm tall. Flowers 30-40cm tall. 30-40cm wide.
Depth and Spacing: Plant 30-40cm apart with the crown just below the soil surface.
Aspect:Part shade. Full sun will be tolerated in cool climates if the plants are kept well watered.
Soil: Plant in a rich, free draining soil.
Watering:Water well during hot, dry spells whilst the plant is growing.
Fertilising: Apply annual feed of general purpose fertiliser once plant starts to shoot. You can also mulch with well composted manure over Winter
