Canna Lilies

Family: Cannaceae
Plant type: Herbaceous rhizome
Planting time: Winter to early Spring.
Size:Dwarf: to 120cm tall x 20-30cm wide.
Depth and Spacing: Plant just below the soil surface with the roots facing down & the growing point facing upwards. Space 20-30cm apart.
Aspect:Full sun.
Soil: Not fussy - they will thrive even in swampy conditions.
Watering:Keep well watered whilst actively growing. Once established, however, Cannas are pretty drought hardy.
Fertilising: General purpose fertiliser.
Flowering time:Summer
Frost: Frost will burn the foliage but won't kill the plant.
Climates: Tolerant of all Australianclimates except those of the arid inland.
