Chinkerinchees and Silver Chimes

Botanical name:

  • Chinkerinchees: Ornithogalum conicum
  • Silver Chimes: Ornithogalum nutans

Planting time: Late Summer to Autumn

  • Chinks: 30-50cm
  • Silver Chimes: 20-30cm

Depth & spacing:

  • Chinks: 8-10cm
  • Silver Chimes: 5-8cm

Aspect: Full sun. In warmer climates these bulbs will tolerate part shade.
Soil: Well drained.
Watering: Start watering when growth appears and keep soil slightly moist until foliage dies off after flowering. It is ideal to keep bulbs relatively dry whilst dormant.
Fertilising: Top dress with a complete fertiliser each Autumn. Eg: Blood & Bone.
Flowering time: Spring to Summer
After flowering care: Leave these bulbs alone. They will naturalise quite happily. You can cut the foliage off after it dies back completely.
Tolerances: Generally very hardy.
