Dwarf Peruvian Lily
Alstroemeria
** Upon receipt **
- Check that the plants & sphagnum moss are moist and keep both slightly moist at all times prior to planting.
- Plant as soon as possible, (ideally within a couple of days. If you must delay planting, place the bag in the crisper of the fridge and check weekly to ensure they are still moist.
** Important when planting **
- Plant rhizome 4-5cm below the surface.
- Keep the soil moist until growth appears. Alstroemerias like the soil to be slightly moist prior to growth appearing (i.e. not too wet or too dry).
Size: 30-40cm tall x 30cm wide.
Aspect: Full sun. Part shade in warmer climates.
Soil: Well drained.
Climate: Cool to Sub Tropic.
Watering: Keep soil slightly moist whilst plant is actively growing.
Frost: Hardy.
Fertilising: Apply a slow release fertiliser at planting or start liquid feeding once the flower buds appear.
Flowering time: Late Spring -Autumn.
Cutting the flowers: These blooms make exceptional cut flowers with their extremely long vase life.
After flowering care: Apart from removing any spent blooms, these plants can be left undisturbed. In Frost areas, prune back to ground level in winter.
Comments: If growing in hot areas, it's ideal to mulch the roots well to help keep them cool.
