Geranium 'Splish Splash' and 'Kashmir White'
Botanical name: G.pratense 'Splish Splash' (also known as G.p 'Striatum') and G.pratense 'Kashmir White'
Plant type: These plants are evergreen but usually you would cut them back hard each Winter to ensure the plants maintain a neat and compact shape.
Plant size: Splish Splash grows 50-80cm tall and 40cm wide. Kashmir White grows to 30-45cm tall and wide (but this variety will spread more widely over time which makes it a great ground cover in the perennial garden).
Depth & spacing: Plant with the crown level with the soil surface (or to the same level as in the pot) & 40cm apart.
Watering: For best results - keep the soil surrounding these plants moist during the hotter months. However, both will tolerate moderate levels of drought.
Frost tolerances: Hardy.
Flowering time: Spring to Summer.
Preferred soil: Well drained and rich soils yield the best results but these varieties will survive quite easily in much poorer soils.
Preferred aspect: Full sun to part shade.
Ideal climates: Cool.
Pruning: Give a light tidy up each Winter by removing any unsightly foliage.
Fertilising: Feed annually with a general purpose fertiliser in Spring.
Uses & comments: Both of these plants are wonderfully easy to grow and very rewarding.
