Perennial Phlox ‘Blue Evening’ & ‘Charles Riccardo’
Botanical name: Phlox paniculata
Plant type: Herbaceous perennial.
Size (HxW): Blue Evening - 80cm x 50cm Charles Riccardo – 90cm x 50cm
Depth and spacing: Plant at the same level as in the pot with roots below soil surface. Plant 50cm apart.
Watering: Water occasionally if rainfall is low.
Frost tolerance: Hardy
Flowering time: Summer till autumn.
Planting time: Best planted whilst dormant in late winter – spring.
Soil: Well-drained, humus rich is ideal. Improve soil conditions by adding organic matter and compost.
Climate: Cool to Temperate.
Aspect: Full sun to semi shade.
Fertilizer: Feed during winter with a well-balanced fertilizer or any well-rotted animal manure.
After flowering care: If you remove the spent flowers it will encourage a second flush. Cut back hard in early winter.
Comments: This plant is great as a cut flower and an excellent addition to a cottage garden.
