Salvia 'Tanzerin'

Botanical name: Salvia nemerosa 'Tanzerin'
Family: Lamiaceae.
Plant type: Semi-evergreen perennial.
Plant size: 50cm tall x 40cm wide
Depth and spacing: Plant with the crown level with the top of the soil (or to the same depth as in the pot) & 40cm apart.
Watering: These plants are somewhat drought tolerant but perform much better with regular watering.
Frost tolerance: Fully hardy.
Flowering time: Summer to Autumn (with well timed pruning the flowering period of this plant can be greatly extended - see next point).
Pruning: Trim off old flowers as they fade and you'll be rewarded with another flush or two within the same season. Cut back harder (to about 1/3) each Winter to help the plant keep its nice compact shape.
Soil: Not fussy but it must be well drained.
Preferred aspect: Full sun to part shade.
Ideal climates: Subtropical to cool.
Fertilising: Give a light feed only.
