Freesia
Freesia Bergundens
Bergunden Freesias are fragrant, single flowers in a stunning colour range. Like all Freesias they grow best in full sun to light shade. If grown in light shade their colour tends to last a little longer than if they are grown in full sun. The blooms last well in a vase and should be picked as the first flower opens. A spring must have!
Bedding Freesias
Easy to grow bulbs that produce an abundant floral display. Bedding Freesias have shorter stems than most Freesias, this makes them ideal for mass planting. Plant in individual colours or mix the brightly coloured, fragrant florets together for beautiful effects.
Fantasia Freesias
Fantasia Freesias are fully double blooms flushed with bright hues. The flowers begin to bloom early in the spring season and continue for many weeks. Freesias are water wise bulbs which originate in the harsh South African climate. They grow and flower through the winter and spring when they are able to take advantage of natural rainfall. During the hot summer months they require no water, as they are dormant. Freesias are wonderfully versatile and can be grown both in the ground and in pots. If you are planting yours into pots space them around 5cm apart for a massed display. As with all bulbs you should leave the foliage to die back naturally, as the leaves begin to yellow it is a good idea to hide the pot until it is ready to begin growth for next seasons show.
Grandma's Freesias
These old fashioned varieties are the most fragrant of all the Freesia cultivars. They are well suited to Australian conditions and will thrive in a sunny, well drained position in the garden. The most fragrant of all the Freesia varieties.
