A breakthrough in breeding has led to this fabulous, double flowering Coreopsis. This exceptional perennial has masses of flowers throughout summer – December to February. The golden petals are fully double with mahogany markings at their base.
Coreopsis ‘Rising Sun’ holds a *Fleuroselect Gold Medal – the highest award for perennial plants. The blooms measure 5.5cm across.
The foliage of Coreopsis ‘Rising Sun’ is light to mid green, to around 10cm at the base. The foliage grows up the stem but is at is most dense towards the base.
Coreopsis ‘Rising Sun’ is a compact cultivar that is easy to grow. It is this compact nature that also lends well to potted plantings.
Cut Coreopsis ‘Rising Sun’ right back to the base once the first flush of flowers has finished, then add some fertiliser to encourage a second flush. Then cut back again in winter or early spring to maintain compact, healthy growth.
Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Choose a full sun to lightly shaded position.
