Extra Sumo ‘Swan Lake’ has REALLY BIG tubers. After a bumper season the tubers have bulked up so well there are at least 20 flowers waiting to burst into bloom this season. This gives you an instant clump of Calla Lilies that you would usually have to wait years for.
Wonderful white petals against lush green foliage, Calla Lily ‘Swan Lake’ is an elegant choice.
You can break Extra Sumo Calla Lilies into individual tubers that can be shared around the garden (or with friends), but you will need to ensure they are dried properly (use talcum powder to help protect them in this process) before you replant.
Calla Lilies have elegant flower spathes in bright, solid colours just perfect for summer gardens. With multiple blooms from each tuber in a season they put on a spectacular show.
The decorative foliage of Calla Lilies is a lush mid to dark green with a light covering of ornamental white spots.
From planting, Calla Lily bulbs will take 50-70 days to flower. Plant your Calla Lilies to create blocks of bright colour in the garden.
Plant your Calla Lilies in humus rich, moist, well drained soils. Calla Lilies need to be kept moist when in active growth, especially over the summer flowering period. If they are allowed to dry out they will become dormant and remain so until next season. In cool climates Calla Lilies will naturally become dormant over winter. In warmer climates, if kept moist, they will remain evergreen with spot flowering year round. In cool climates, grow in a full sun to semi shade position. In warmer zones they are best in part shade.
Calla Lilies are suitable for growing in pots. Ensure you keep the pots moist during active growth and add plenty of fertiliser to keep them blooming at their best.
Calla Lilies make excellent cut flowers and last weeks in a vase.
