Extraordinary tulips.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Brick red petals with a lovely sharp point. The base of the flower has a strong, blue black splotch. The leaves have a red edge and grow to around 15cm.
Tulipa kurdica is native to the mountains of Iraq where they grow in limestone and igneous rock. It was first described in 1974. The bulbs are quite small (just over 1cm across) but produce an impressive display.
Species Tulips have a more relaxed or whimsical feel than the common hybridized varieties. If planted in a well drained soil in a sunny spot. They don`t mind getting hot in summer, unlike most spring flowering bulbs as they are used to being `baked` in their native homeland. The bulbs of Tulipa kurdica are quite hardy and can be left in the ground for many years.
Species Tulips are ideal for rock gardens, lawn plantings, pots or towards the front of a border.
