The charming strawberry pink blooms fade to cream at the base as they mature. The flowers of Kniphofia ‘Strawberries and Cream’ open from late summer to autumn.
The old ‘Red Hot Pokers’ have come a long way. With an expanded colour range, these durable plants are hard to go past. Known botanically as Kniphofia they have a reputation for easy care with vibrant flowers.
Kniphofia ‘Strawberries and Cream’ is heat and frost tolerant. The bright colourful flowers last and last and can even be picked and enjoyed indoors.
Kniphofia ‘Strawberries and Cream’ is ideal as a border plant (excellent in combination with agapanthus), as specimen plants, along fence lines or in large containers.
Grow Kniphofia in well drained moderately fertile to humus rich soil, they are quite adaptable. Plant in a sunny location. Kniphofia will tough out coastal conditions, winds and average soils. The natural rainfall should be plenty for them but they might need a top up in very dry conditions. Allow to become relatively dry over winter.
