Agastache ‘Aztec Rose’ offers effervescent garden colour throughout summer and into autumn. This tall plant is ready to make a statement! It stands up to the summer heat and the fragrant green foliage has a handsome bronze blush.
Agastache ‘Aztec Rose’ looks fantastic in dry beds, cottage gardens, rock gardens and containers. It is an excellent plant for attracting birds, bees and other beneficial insects to your garden.
Agastache ‘Aztec Rose’ has fragrant leaves that smell like a blend of aniseed and lemon - they are even edible and can be used in salads or teas. If you enjoy the fragrance, try planting them along paths where you can brush up against it, or you could pick a sprig or two and bring indoors to enjoy in a vase.
We recommend you dead head your Agastache flowers regularly during the season to encourage more blooms. Or, if that seems like too much bother, give them a bit of a hair cut midsummer, add some fertiliser and await a second flush.
Tolerant of poor soils, so long as they are well drained, Agastache are ideal for providing long lasting colour as a dry garden plant. Agastache plants prefer a full sun to light shade position, they need water to establish, then you will only have to worry if rainfall is low, however the flowering season will last longer if the plants are kept moist.
It is a good idea to cut your Agastache plants back to the ground in winter to maintain a healthy bush.
Agastache is also known as 'Hummingbird Mint', and is a native to the south western U.S.A.
