Masses of little lilac flowers cover this shade loving evergreen perennial throughout spring. Each flower is just under a centimetre across, and they open on loose racemes over the foliage.

Omphalodes ‘Lilac Mist’ is a rare and wonderful evergreen shady ground cover. The heart shaped foliage will even shine through frost. The leaves grow to around 10cm long.

Plant Omphalodes ‘Lilac Mist’ along garden edges, in pots, woodland gardens or rockeries. They like a similar situation to Hostas or Winter Roses. The dense foliage can be inter-planted with spring bulbs for a bonus display - as the bulbs die back, their foliage will be masked by that of the Omphalodes.

Grow Omphalodes ‘Lilac Mist’ in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. Grow in filtered light to part shade. In cool climates more sun will be tolerated but you will need to water the plants more often.

The common name for Omphalodes is the unusual name of Navelwort.
