Magnolia 'Pinkie' is impressive with abundant, large, soft pink flowers with a deeper pink reverse. In ideal conditions it is literally shrouded in flowers.

Magnolias are one of the most revered flowering trees. Their glorious display brings an end to winter and the promise of spring. Magnolia 'Pinkie' will flower a little later than most, and lasts almost until summer.

Magnolia 'Pinkie' is a small, spreading tree so ideal for smaller gardens or blocks. You can prune it as a shrub or small tree. Each bloom is around 20cm across and has a light fragrance. The flowers are made of up to 12 tepals, false petals.

Magnolia 'Pinkie' is a hybrid of Magnolia stellata 'Roesa' and Magnolia liliiflora 'Nigra' and was developed in the 1950?s. It has dark green leaves that turn bronze in autumn.

Plant Magnolia 'Pinkie' in a full sun, to semi shade position. Moderately fertile, to humus rich, well drained soil is ideal. Acidic soils are preferred.
