Purple sepals and spurs with white petals. A knockout combination! The flowers bloom spring to summer and the blooms are beautiful in a vase.

With Songbird Aquilegias you will have oodles of flowers to enjoy in the garden with plenty left over for picking!

The Aquilegia Song Bird Series has larger, more upward facing flowers complimented with long spurs. The blooms average 7cm across and boast an impressively lengthy show. The foliage is more compact and lush than the common forms. The Aquilegia Songbird Series holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit for quality garden plants.

Aquilegias are cottage garden essentials, with sweet flowers and delightfully lacy foliage. Their elegant, fern like leaves make a beautiful foil for the fading spring flowering bulbs.

Aquilegias thrive in light to moderate shade though; with sufficient moisture will tolerate full sun. They will even grow well in pots. They are best planted in moist, well drained, humus rich soil.

After the initial flowering has finished, you can cut the stems back to the basal foliage and fertilise for a second flush of flowers. You can choose to leave the last flowers of the season to form seed heads for future generations of plants. Seedlings are unlikely to flower true to type as they hybridise easily – though with Aquilegias we don’t think you can lose as they are all so gorgeous.
