This impressive, semi evergreen shrub hails from the Himalayas and is sure to make a great impact the garden. The blooms open in large, pendent racemes spring to summer. Each is 20-30cm long and 8-10cm across.
The luscious, crimson pink florets have a decadent orange throat. They last well and open on last seasons wood.
Quick to grow and establish, with arching branches of dark green foliage. The young leaves are covered in fine, mahogany hairs which disappear as they age, they grow 6-20cm long. The arching branches are an elegant feature.
Grow Buddleja colvilei in full sun to part shade. Protect from harsh frost while young, if you live in a cold climate, delay planting until the threat has passed, once established it becomes frost tolerant. Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Not really any pruning required except for crossing or dead branches. Remove spent flowers to tidy.
