Bright yellow flowers with flashes of red and orange across the petals. A lovely sunshine bloom for gardens or pots.
Inca Peruvian Lilies, are valuable garden plants for many reasons; they have a long flowering period, last well when picked, are easily cared for and they become dry tolerant once established. That ticks a lot of boxes!
Flowers galore, who could ask for anything more? Dwarf Peruvian Lilies bring months of colour to the garden. You can pick them and fill your vases and there will still be enough to brighten your beds. When you pick the stems it is best to twist then pluck them from the base to encourage more growth. We also advise this method when pruning spent flowers and foliage. Inca Peruvian Lily flowers measure 5-7cm across.
Inca Peruvian Lilies have harder stems and leaves, they are more disease resistant, compact and well branched than your average Peruvian Lily. They cope well to -7C and don’t mind the heat.
Inca Peruvian Lilies come in a vibrant range of colours. The flowers begin blooming in spring and last right through to autumn.
When growing Inca Peruvian Lilies it is important to ensure they are fertilised well. They grow quickly and flower profusely so need to be well fed. We recommend a slow release fertiliser in winter and spring or a liquid fertiliser on a regular basis.
Water Inca Peruvian Lilies in well then we recommend keeping moist during active growth, as they will flower better. As they establish they become drought tolerant - they have a fleshy root system that keeps a reserve of moisture. Ensure you plant Peruvian Lilies in a well drained soil, humus rich conditions are ideal. Mulch Inca Peruvian Lilies in spring to protect the root system and help retain moisture.
In the language of flowers the Alstroemerias signify friendship and devotion.
