The big, lavender, patterned flowers mass on the strong, upright stems from late spring to autumn. They take the heat and their compact nature works well in containers or gardens.
The dense foliage has a hint of blue and nice density. Cha Cha Penstemon work well in gardens or pots and the flowers are great for picking. What is more, the flowers are loved by bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects.
Happy in poor, to moderately fertile, well drained soil. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low, they become dry tolerant once established. It is a good idea to prune back to the woody base after flowering to promote healthy growth. The hardiest Penstemon we have ever met, that is also downy mildew resistant.
