Large clusters of flat lavender-blue blooms with a white eye. The mid green leaves with a silver border on ruffled edges. Grows to 15cm. Each flower averages 3cm across.

Primulas are something special. When in flower, the blooms are delicate and eye catching. They come in a stunning array of colours and have a sweet, spicy scent. The flowers are 1.5-3cm across.

Primulas are relatively easy to grow, and are usually killed with kindness. Plant in a position that is sheltered from the hot afternoon sun and where they won't be too wet over winter. Plant into humus rich, moist, well drained soil or, in pots use a good quality, loam or peat based potting mix. Ensure there is good air flow around the plants.

Primulas grow well in pots or can be planted in beds or rockeries. When plants get leggy, lift and replant with the stems a little deeper. In pots, protect the stems with a sprinkle of gravel
