Large, brilliant blue flowers open in loose racemes. Salvia 'Blue Angel' is a top little Salvia with true blue flowers. Also known as Gentian Blue Salvia, it really does have that brilliant cobalt colouring. The blooms are good for picking.
The flowers are larger than your average Salvia, stretching up to 6cm long. You will get around three months of flowers from Salvia 'Blue Angel'. Dead head regularly to keep them blooming at their best.
Salvia 'Blue Angel' is endemic to Mexico. Grow in well drained soil in a sunny position. The foliage of Salvia 'Blue Angel' is mid green and fuzzy. Suitable for garden beds and large containers.
Cut Salvia 'Blue Angel' to the ground in winter to keep them vigorous. It is a tuberous perennial, in areas with heavy frost or snow, you can lift the tubers as you would a Dahlia and store over winter, replanting in the spring.
