Albuca ‘Frizzle Sizzle’

- Plant with roots spread below the soil surface. Space approximately 10-20cm apart. The base of the plant is quite narrow but the foliage spreads like a fountain.

- Moderately fertile, well drained soil. In pots ensure you choose a cactus/ succulent potting mix for best results as it offers the sharp drainage they need. Choose a pot with drainage holes to ensure they don’t end up sitting in water.

- Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. In pots allow to dry out between watering, there is no need to water during dormancy. Begin watering again in autumn as the plant comes back to life. It is important not to over water as the bulbs tend to rot if left to sit in it.

- Grows during winter. The plants mature at just two years of age and the bulbs grow to 8cm across. So in winter, place in a dry spot with lots of light. The foliage may hang on through summer, but might look a bit dishevelled. If you are growing it as a house plant, ideally pop it outside in winter every so often so it can get the cool temperatures required to induce flowering. Don’t forget, in some climates they are dormant over summer, you haven’t killed it and we didn't send you a dead plant - it will be back (in autumn)! Also sometimes the leaf tips turn brown when they flower, this is normal.
