Bergenia 'Oeschberg'

Botanical Name: Bergenia crassifolia
Plant Type: Evergreen perennial
Size (HxW): 50-60cm x 40-50cm
Depth & Spacing: Plant at the same level as in the pot with the roots spread evenly below soil surface. Space 40-50cm apart.
Soil: Well drained, moderately fertile to humus rich soil. They aren’t fussy as long as they aren’t hot and dry.
Aspect: Full sun to semi shade. They love light shade or morning sun though full sun isn’t a problem as long as you water in summer. Bergenia will grow in full shade but unlikely to flower.
Climate: Cool to Mediterranean
Frost: Hardy
Water: Water in, they become dry tolerant as they establish –if they dry out too much they will likely soldier on but the foliage won’t look as good.
Fertiliser: Apply a well-balanced fertiliser, or leaf mulch in autumn, they are not heavy feeders.
Flowering Time: Spring to autumn
After Flower Care: Cut off any spent flowers and foliage to tidy.
Notes: Excellent as a ground cover or in pots. Divide spring/autumn, every 3-5 years or as required. Flowers suitable for cutting.
