Botanical Name: Echinacea pallida. ‘Paradoxa’: E. paradoxa. Tennessee: E. tennesseensis.

Plant Type: Herbaceous Perennial
Size (HxW): 60-90cm x 30-60cm. ‘Paradoxa’: 30-90cm x 30-45cm. Tennessee: 40-80cm x 20-40cm.
Depth & Spacing: Plant at the same level as in the pot with roots spread evenly below. Space 20-60cm apart.
Soil: Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Adaptable to poor soils.
Aspect: Full sun to semi shade
Climate: Cool to Mediterranean
Frost: Hardy
Water: Water to establish, it takes plants 4-6 weeks of regular watering to penetrate and gain access to the surrounding soil. Keep moist during the first growing season. Dry tolerant once established.
Fertiliser: Apply a well balanced fertiliser in spring.
Flowering Time: Late spring to late autumn
After Flower Care: You can cut off any initial spent flowers to encourage more, or just leave them, up to you they will still produce a good amount of flowers. You can leave the second round of flower/seed heads to stand for their ornamental value and for the birds. Then cut back hard late winter or early spring to allow the new growth to shine.
Notes: Flowers last well in a vase. Protect new growth from slugs and snails. Divide in autumn as they become overcrowded, every four years or so.
