A garden worthy choice for shade with slowly creeping, handsome, glossy green foliage. The new leaves have a pink blush at the ends of the branches and they blush red again in autumn while remaining evergreen.

This handsome plant has the versatility to grow as a ground cover, climber or spilling plant for pots and hanging baskets. You can even grow them indoors. The textural foliage sits just above the ground and will ramble across it, sitting proudly above. It is just as easy over a trellis, on an obelisk or up a fence or wall. You could even grow it indoors.

It will gradually sprawl to cover areas, and rarely needs to be pruned. Commonly sold as Parthenocissus sikkimensis, hence the common name, Sikkim Creeper. It is in the same family as Parthenocissus and exhibits similar characteristics.

The glossy, palmate, or five lobed leaves in mid to deep green. They are very shade tolerant, don’t mind morning sun, though may stress in afternoon sun.

Plant Sikkim Creeper into moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water in (plants take around four weeks of regular watering to establish), they become dry tolerant once established. That is about it! They will do their own thing while you do yours, and when you pass by you can smile to yourself.

Rarely available and totally amazing.

Sold previously as Parthenocissus sikkimensis, Syn. Vitis obtecta, Tetrastigma otectum var. glabrum, Tetrastigma otectum var. obtectum. It is in the Vitaceae or grape family. It is endemic to woodlands of China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Assam and Nepal, where it grows at the forest understory.
