Magnolias are one of the most revered flowering trees. Magnolia ‘Exmouth’ is no exception. The large, bright white flowers have a magnificent perfume and bloom all summer long. The blooms begin while the tree is still young. The glossy, green foliage has a soft, rust underside.
Magnolia ‘Exmouth’ is a medium to large, conical tree that will grow up to 12m tall and can stretch up to 5m wide, the size can be constrained with regular pruning. It will take around ten years to reach maturity. It has an upright form that will mature into a conical shape. Useful as a screening tree, specimen, shaping or hedge.
Plant Magnolia ‘Exmouth’ in a full sun, to semi shade position. Moderately fertile, to humus rich, well drained soil is ideal. Acidic soils are preferred. If grown in warm climates will require more watering whilst establishing. It is easy to grow and adaptable to a range of conditions. Prune in winter as required.
Magnolia ‘Exmouth’ is commonly known as Bull Bay Magnolia. It is suitable for growing in large containers, be sure to the keep the water and fertiliser up to them if you choose this growing method.
