Calamagrostis 'Karl Foerster'
A celebrated grass.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

One of Paul Bangay’s darlings that provides the wow factor. A great garden landscaping grass and simply amazing in large plantings. The thin stems sway beautifully in the breeze.
From late summer a cloud of soft purple coloured plumes open well above the foliage, almost doubling it to six foot. As the season progresses, the plumes change to soft brown then golden straw.
Winner of the Plant of the Year Award in 2001, the first grass to take out this prestigious award.
The mid to deep green, narrow foliage is a year round feature, but looks even better with an annual winter/early spring hair cut to allow the new leaves to shine.
Plant Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low. Suitable for growing in containers. Prospers even in poor soils such as heavy clay.
