Not a plant you see every day, this is a great opportunity to snap one up! A hardy choice with large, hairy leaves to 25cm. The purplish stems are strong and upright bearing clusters of golden blooms (8-20) from late summer. Each of the flowers is up to 15cm across with narrow, golden petals.
If you have got the space, this is a great addition to the garden and they are so easy, they almost thrive on neglect. Not only gardeners enjoy this bold plant, the birds, bees and butterflies will also flock.
Plant Magnificent Elecampane in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soils. Grow in a sunny spot. Water in, then once established they are dry tolerant. Cut back in winter as they fade. Seed is viable and can be collected. Divide as required in spring or autumn. Ensure good air flow to avoid powdery mildew. Doesn’t mind boggy soils.
