A blue beauty for a prize position. The dense blue florets have a soft pink blush at the base of the floret and they are the perfect compliment, really glowing in the garden. The bloom season is nice and long and the plants grow with and good vigour and without much effort.
Butterflies and bees love this plant almost as much as gardeners do.
Penstemon ‘Blue Springs’ has with a casual, easy nature. Happy in poor, to moderately fertile, well drained soil. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low, they are dry tolerant once established. It is a good idea to prune back to the woody base after flowering to promote healthy growth. Cut flowers regularly to extend the season and keep it nice and vigorous.
Penstemon is commonly known as Beardtongue or Foothill Penstemon. It is known as Blue Springs or Blue Spring.
