An exciting new Salvia with strong, compact growth. Early flowering , from late spring, they can repeat into autumn. The upright flower stems are thick with violet blue florets. A stand out in gardens or pots.
If you cut Salvia Sallyrosa ‘April Night’ back hard around January, then water and fertilise, you will get strong regrowth and flowers into autumn. Alternatively you can simply remove spent flowers as they occur which will also keep them blooming. The blooms will last well in a vases.
The leaves of Salvia Sallyrosa ‘April Night’ are mid green, oval and grow to around 10cm. They have exceptional mildew resistance and good heat tolerance.
Plant this herbaceous perennial into moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Sandy and gravelly soils are very suitable. A sunny position is perfect for this plant. Water well to establish, this takes around four weeks depending on conditions, you need to ensure the roots have reached the surrounding soil before you can leave them to their own devices. Dry tolerant once established.
