Encliandra Fuchsia 'Lottie Hobby'
A rare find.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
A nice, bushy, upright shrub with excellent vigour and an abundance of blooms for many months. A lovely addition to a rockery, shade garden or container.
The prolific, carmine pink, tubular flowers grow to around 1.5cm long and last well. The dark green, serrated leaves are a similar size and grow along the branches. It is noted as a particularly hardy variety, good news for cold climate gardeners.
Fuchsia ‘Lottie Hobby’ was bred by Edwards in the UK in 1839 so has assuredly stood the test of time. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. This is in the section of Encliandra Fuchsia commonly known as miniature Fuchsias (for the flowers). It is a cross of F. bacillaris.
Fuchsias grow best in semi shade to filtered light conditions where they thrive. They can be grown in the garden where they should be protected from frosts and drying winds. A beauty for a shaded spot with protection from hot sun.
In pots, plant Fuchsias good quality potting mix and be sure to shelter the plants from drying winds and frost. Add a liquid fertiliser monthly to keep them blooming. Make sure you keep them moist while actively growing. Will be more compact in a pot.
