An easy evergreen shrub with extra large, (12cm) winter blooms from rosy pink buds that inundate the bush and can last until the end of spring. They last well in a vase too.

Once the blooms have had their day, the ornamental purple berries (similar in colour to Callicarpa) take over the show. They can be left for the birds or cut and enjoyed in floral arrangements. They blacken with age.

The new spring leaves have a red glow creating even more seasonal interest.

Viburnums are vigorous shrubs with lovely dense growth. They become dry tolerant and frost hardy once they establish. Adding shrubs such as these to your garden provides good structure or bones to the landscape. You could utilise Viburnum ‘Anvi’ as a hedge, a specimen, a screening plant or as part of a shrub border.

Viburnums will grow in moderately fertile, to humus rich, moist soils and like good drainage. Suitable for a part shade to full sun position. Prune out the odd vertical branching after the flowers have finished. A light prune is all that is needed and only to control size.
