Curling, blue green foliage that blushes pink (especially when stressed and in the cool winter). The current growth is around 6cm. The leaf curl deepens as the plants mature. This rarity is much sought after.
Bright light will get the best colour. A sport of Topsy Turvy. It is also known as Pig Nose Echeveria.
In ideal conditions, and once mature offsets will form along the stem and from the base of the plant and will soon fill your pot. You can also grow more from leaf cuttings. Orange to yellow flowers grow on tall stems summer to autumn.
SIZE (HxW): 10-20cm x 10-20cm
I SEE THE LIGHT: Bright, indirect light is ideal. In high light the foliage will change. Keep out of the hot afternoon sun lest their leaves be sunburned or roots damaged. You will get the best foliage colour in bright light. They may stretch if they don’t have enough light - just cut their heads off and re-root.
I NEED A DRINK: Low, water well, then allow the soil to almost dry out before watering again. Keeping them on the drier side will result in better colour. If they are too dry, the leaves will wither and shrink – this is a cry of help. They are dormant in winter so watering should be reduced with cooler weather.
I WILL SURVIVE: These plants are so easy, they pretty much look after themselves. In pots ensure you choose a cactus/succulent potting mix for best results as it offers the sharp drainage they need. Choose a pot with drainage holes to ensure they don’t end up sitting in water, ideally a terracotta or ceramic pot rather than a plastic option. Offsets will form at the base of the plant, they can be left to continue the generations, or removed and repotted or shared or whatever you like.
Use a diluted, liquid fertiliser in spring to keep them happy and healthy. They aren’t heavy feeders so will forgive you if you forget.
