Geranium 'Biokovo'

Quick to grow and establish, this low growing, low maintenance Cranesbill will create a lush mound of mid green foliage. From late spring through to summer the leaves are crowned with masses of little shell pink flowers. Each bloom is around 2.5cm across and has deeper pink stamens. Once the flowers have finished, you can give your plant a light prune and a bit of love and you can enjoy a second round in autumn.
In 2015 this super star took out the prestigious Perennial Plant of the Year in the U.S.
The scented leaves are deeply lobed and blush red in autumn.
Geranium ‘Biokovo’ makes a wonderful filler, rock garden plant or ground cover. It is also a lovely potted plant, where the foliage and flowers can spill over the side. It is tolerant of most soil types so long as they are well drained. In pots, quality potting mix should be used. It is a nice choice in combination with spring bulbs as it comes into its own as the bulbs are fading. The rabbits don’t seem interested in this one, but the butterflies and bees love it.
Plant Geranium ‘Biokovo’ in full sun to light shade and fertilise at the beginning of spring, and again in summer while it establishes. Keep moist during active growth for best flowers. Once established it will withstand dry periods. It is quite shade tolerant but won’t flower as prolifically as it could.
