A tough little ground cover, edging plant or potted specimen with a compact, spreading habit. The deep burgundy to purple foliage makes a lovely accent in the garden.
Smaller than the standard form, with a lovely dense habit to block out any weeds. 30-40cm tall. Once it is off and growing you can sit back and relax, there is no maintenance required.
Grows best in a full sun to part shade position. Humidity, coastal conditions and heat aren’t a problem for this vigorous plant. They should be protected from hard frost, though it is hardier than the common form. Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish, this takes around four weeks of regular watering, then only if rainfall is low. If your soil is poor, a light application of fertiliser in spring is all they need.
