A top notch, hard working plant that will tough out dry conditions and poor soils with ease, all while offering plenty of bright blooms from summer to frost. The corymbs grow to around 5cm across and are a lovely lilac shade with hints of silver. A lovely choice for garden edging, cottage gardens, rock gardens, containers or the front of a bed/border.

Verbena ‘Polaris’ has taken out the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit twice, so you know it is garden worthy and won’t give you too much trouble.

Mine is planted by the garden steps and I don’t think it has stopped flowering since I planted it this time last year. It has doubled in size and hasn’t taken a moment of my time.

Verbena ‘Polaris’ is a strong grower and will soon form a nice clump. The leaves grow low on the stems, leaving the flowers up above to show off on their slender, branched stems.

Verbena’s are very attractive to butterflies and bees and birds. Verbena’s are renowned for their flowering prowess and easy care. They are both heat and cold tolerant plants. Verbena rigida will spread through underground rhizomes which wonderful thing because you usually get a few extras that you can leave in situ or share with family and friends.

Plant Verbena ‘Polaris’ in a sunny location in well drained soil. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low. Leave the last of the blooms to set seed for future generations and increase your stocks. A light prune early spring to make way for new growth.
