Tricyrtis are strong growing plants with masses of orchid like flowers. The blooms form at the tips of the upright stems over a long period from summer to autumn.
The leaves spread up the stems in an attractive fashion.

Whilst Toad Lilies or Tricyrtis sp. look like Orchids, they are in the Lily family. T
Also known as Creeping Toad Lily, it gets its name as it is a rhizomatous perennial that spreads or 'creeps' with underground stolons. It does this at a moderate pace and is not invasive. It is variably suggested they are commonly known as Toad Lilies because they like to grow where Toads live; or because they are spotted like toads; or because of their lumpy nectaries.
