Wonderful rarities to last a lifetime. These are Australian crosses of the rare Helleborus hercegovinus with deep red flowers. The foliage is deeply divided and highly sought after. These are extra special as the leaves as well as the blooms have that wine red blush. A most graceful choice that is sure to be cherished.
Hand pollinated H. multifidus subsp.
Hercegovinus, plants have variation in colour.
Winter Roses, or Hellebores are durable and versatile in the garden. They grow best beneath deciduous trees or in filtered light or part shade (they don't tend to flower as well in heavy shade).
You can choose to cut the old foliage back hard in autumn to allow the new flowers and foliage to shine. This will also help to keep the plants vigorous and healthy.
You could try picking and floating the blooms of Winter Rose in a shallow glass dish for a sophisticated centre piece that will bring colour inside for the winter months.
