The sizable, palmate leaves have a beautiful, silver, cream and green veneer that remains true throughout the season.
Glorious plumes of cream, fuzzy flowers, to 60cm, put on a stunning show through summer. The flowers open with a laid back romantic flair. The flowers can be picked and even dried.
Our Tip: cut the foliage back after blooming to promote fresh, new, fresh foliage that will last until frost.
A woodland plant, Filipendula prefers a humus rich soil and thrives with generous helpings of compost. Don’t expect too much in the first, year, it is in the second and subsequent years that this plant will really impress you. More flowers and more vigorous growth comes in time and soon you will wonder how you did without this plant.
Also known as Meadowsweet, it grows well in boggy soils. They are perfect for those hard to plant out areas beside ponds and low lying areas of the garden. They will grow well in normal beds in sun, but need to be kept moist to avoid leaf burn. Best in part shade, but will cope in sun with good moistures.
