New in 2024.
Short delay - awaiting stock
These Cymbidiums are in 7cm pots, will take 2-3 years to flower and are well worth the wait.
Yellow blushing green blooms with patterned cream and red lips. Up to 30, 6cm flowers on each pendent 30-40cm stem, with multiple stems from established plants. Australian bred with lengthy cascading stems packed with blooms. The flowers open late July to September and endure for months. Multiple spikes per bulbs, they are an asset in the garden.
Mary Green Orchids are The Cymbidiums of the future, crosses of the sensational ‘Sarah Jean’. Mary Green’s are fast growing and will flower earlier, on smaller plants, and with more flower spikes; up to 10 on four year old established plants. An excellent choice for beginners because of their ease of care and early show.
Cascading Cymbidium Orchids lush and graceful with arching foliage and flower stems. They are long lived and quite rewarding. As they mature they will produce more and more flower stems
We have selected only vigorous varieties for our collections, so even beginner growers will look like experts in no time.
Once they open, the blooms will last from 4 to 12 weeks on the plant and 2 to 6 weeks if you cut the stems for the vase. As cool growing orchids they require cold winter nights in order to flower well (10-15C at night).
Cymbidium Orchids are easy to grow as long as you cater for their basic needs:
1. Use an orchid growing mix.
2. Position the plant in dappled light with good air flow.
3. Keep the plant just moist, watering frequently in spring and summer while it is growing and then when in bloom. Then keeping just moist in winter, allowing the mix to dry out in between.
Fertilise well (twice a month with a diluted liquid orchid fertiliser spring to summer (after flowering finishes), then drop it back to once a month in autumn. Liquid fertilisers are readily enjoyed by the plants as the nutrients are immediately available, but they flush through quite quickly which is why you are best to apply so often. You could instead use a slow release orchid fertiliser as per the directions on the package.
Cymbidium Orchids make ideal pot and hanging basket plants. They may take a year or two to settle in and flower, but they can then bloom reliably for decades to come.
Our Tip: long, dark green drooping leaves are an indication of too much shade, which will result in little to no blooms. Yellow leaves are usually an indication of too much sun.
