Nepeta 'Dropmore'
New in 2025.
In stock

An absolute treasure with upright growth and a long season of interest. Masses of lilac flowers open over the tidy, compact and fragrant foliage. The flowers are larger, they last longer and with the upright form it can look more formal than many of the Catmints.
Nepeta ‘Dropmore’ holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit so you know it will be easy growing and look good.
Beneficial insects and birds adore the flowers almost as much as cats! Adaptable to a range of climates and soil types, Nepeta are easy care and wonderfully rewarding.
The small, grey-green leaves velvety to the touch and are aromatic, with a lemon like smell when brushed against or crushed. Suitable for gardens, under roses, as edging, rockeries or in containers/hanging baskets. The flowers even have a pretty good vase life.
Nepeta is commonly known as Catmint and is a low maintenance plant with few insect or disease problems. Dead head them regularly for constant flowers, OR cut back hard after the first flush of flowers, (around mid to late December) then fertilise for a repeat bloom into autumn. ‘Dropmore’ is better than most in the new blooms can keep coming without that prune if you wanted to experiment.
Nepeta grows best in full sun to part shade. In warmer climates it will fare better with some protection from the hot afternoon sun. Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low.
