Mexican Salvia 'Velour White'
Months of flowers.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
The velvet, fuzzy flowers emerge from silver calyxes on strong stems and bloom for ages. Water wise and fast to establish and grow with impressive size.
The gorgeous flowers of Salvia leuchantha, commonly known as Mexican Sage bloom reliably and for a long time. They are easy care and very hardy. I am not sure we could sing their praises loudly enough! Neither can the beneficial birds and insects that adore the blooms.
These well branched sub shrubs* have big blooming power and aromatic foliage. A lovely choice for beds and borders. It can even grow in pots. The stems are long and decorative and can be added to cut flower arrangements.
Grow Salvia leucantha in a sunny location in well drained soil. Salvias are dry tolerant once established and look wonderful in beds, borders, coastal or dry gardens. They have vigorous growth and are low maintenance. They are fairly frost tolerant but young plants may be damaged, if you have heavy frosts (-5C or more) it might be ideal to wait until spring for planting.
* A sub shrub is a woody based perennial. It remains above ground year round and should be pruned back after flowering or in early spring to maintain vigour and allow fresh new growth to shine.
