Rain Lily bulbs are ideal for mass or lawn plantings, along the front of beds, edges and pathways or even containers. The narrow foliage is long and straight.
The flowers emerge as if from nowhere with the late summer and autumn rains. Each bloom is around 4cm across and they open for many weeks. The white is a rarer choice than the more commonly available pink.
Plant Rain Lilies into humus rich, well drained soil. Bulbs can be left in the ground to naturalise and will only need to be divided if they become overcrowded. May rot in wet, poorly drained winter soils.
In warmer climates the foliage can remain evergreen.
