Double Winter Rose 'Lemon Tart'

Almost indestructible and certainly indispensible, Winter Roses are ideal for dressing up the shady spots in your garden. They provide a long lasting floral display, from winter to spring and their handsome, evergreen foliage remains a year round feature.

Winter Roses, or Hellebores are durable and versatile in the garden. They thrive beneath deciduous trees, in filtered light or part shade (they don't tend to flower as well in really heavy shade). They will even grow in containers. The plentiful, enduring flowers measure around 5-8cm across.

The blooms open so freely there is plenty for picking - a real boon for winter. A nice way to display them is floating in a bowl as a table centrepiece.

Try picking and floating the blooms of Winter Rose in a shallow glass dish for a handsome centre piece that will bring colour inside for winter. The stems can also be picked for vases. If you dip them in boiling water after picking it will prolong their life.
