Enjoy a profusion of lavender blue blooms through summer into autumn. Aster 'Twilight' is vigorous, hardy and offers great quantities of colourful blooms. It will grow up in good time to fill in for the fading spring bulbs.
Each flower is around 3cm across and masses of them open through the season. The upright stems have mid green, elongated heart shaped leaves growing along them, they are lovely and strong so rarely need staking. Aster 'Twilight 'grows well in sun and doesn't mind a bit of shade.
Plant Aster 'Twilight' in borders, cottage garden, even in part shade. By dead heading your plants regularly you will promote more blooms. The flowers last well in a vase.
Once established Aster 'Twilight' will grow successfully in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil and doesn't require a lot of water, even though it grows and flowers through the hotter times of the year.
Keep an eye out for slugs and snails as they find new foliage a delicacy. Aster 'Twilight' has excellent mildew resistance.
This Aster is also known as Large leaf wood aster or Hervey's Aster. Botanically it has a few synonyms too, Syn. Eurybia x herveyi, Aster macrophyllus 'Twilight', Aster x commixtus
