Dwarf Iris Eye Catcher
A must have winter bloom. The antique white petals are overlaid with a gold blush, blue freckles and bold blue feathering.
Bred by the legendary, Canadian Iris breeder Alan McMurtrie. The combination of colour and pattern is undeniably eye catching. A new, rare variety for Australia.
These are very hardy bulbs that will tolerate frost, full sun to semi shade and any well drained soil.
Plant Dwarf Iris ‘Eye Catcher’ around 8cm deep and space 5cm apart. Water in well, then you only need to worry if rainfall is low during growth. The bulbs don’t need to be lifted and can be left in the ground to naturalise, where they multiply at a steady rate.
The bulbs are small, so it is a good idea to mark their spot so you don’t lose them! Fertilise Dwarf Iris ‘Eye Catcher’ with the flowers in winter/spring using a high potassium or liquid fertiliser. They like it dry over the summer when they are dormant. They are suitable for pots, just use a good quality potting mix for drainage, and don’t forget to add water and fertiliser when in growth.
Dwarf Iris ‘Eye Catcher’ looks wonderful in a rockery, pot or towards the front of a garden bed. You get one or two flowers per bulb and they look best planted in clumps.
