Red Hot Poker 'Citrina'

A rarely seen, garden worthy Kniphofia with stunning yellow flowers that last well. The strappy, blue green basal foliage sits below the flowers. Unusual upright blooms that can last a lifetime.

Kniphofia citrina is an extremely hardy, easy care plant. Kniphofia are noted for their dry, heat and frost tolerance. The bright, colourful flowers last and last and can even be picked and enjoyed indoors. Or left outside where birds and beneficial insect pollinators can enjoy them.

Kniphofia citrina is ideal as a border plant (excellent in combination with agapanthus), as specimen plants or in large containers.

Grow this semi evergreen perennial Kniphofia in well drained moderately fertile to humus rich soil, they are quite adaptable. Plant in a sunny location and water in. They are dry tolerant once established though will flower better with moisture. Cut the foliage back late winter/early spring 10-15cm, to allow the new growth to shine.
