Clematis Viticella 'Purpurea Plena Elegans'
An abundance, of double, magenta blooms open for months on end (not purple as the name would imply). Each flower is around 5cm across and can last up to a fortnight, then, the petals fall to reveal a cluster of sepals that continue to look good for a week or more.
This stunner holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, so you know it is good. It was introduced around 1900 by Francisque Morel and has been coveted by gardeners around the world since.
